NZ has let me down again, Another 6.0 (the worst of 5 in the last 2 hours) quake to devastate the already mourning residents of Christchurch. Please keep them in your prayers, it looks like a never ending battle with Mother Earth.
Since my doctor doesn't seem to think that major earthquakes are a cause for alarm to a recent quake survivor and refuses to prescribe me anti-freak out medication, I have prescribed myself a two week vacation back in North Carolina.
Stay safe Christchurch, I wish I could take you all with me.

That is so sad. I hope your time away helps.
ReplyDeleteI really cannot imagine what those families are going through or how on earth they can cope. It is horrible.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm glad you can get away. I hope it helps.
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible, I can't imagine how tough it is for everyone there in Christchurch. I'm glad you are getting a chance to get away, and I'm betting the docs in SC would have a different view of the necessity of freak-out meds. Enjoy the vacation.
ReplyDeleteCompletely understood to get a break in NC. Have a safe flight and take care. And even if they won't hand out something behind the counter for stress assistance, you'll have some comfort foods and friends and a bit of home to make it all better.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you from experience, the vacation works way better than pills. After I got robbed at knifepoint in Jerusalem, I prescribed two weeks at the beach in SC (our consulate nurse offered a visit to the regional shrink but I declined, saying sand and sale therapy was what I needed). Worked wonders. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing one.
ReplyDeleteI agree, sometimes time away is the best medicine. It's hard to leave behind people who still have to live with it though. I hate that part. I have been thinking of you, and Christchurch, a lot.
